Dion Dixon : Crane High School Standout
Written by marshaun williams    Saturday, 15 December 2007 12:10    PDF Print E-mail

A preseason interview back in October by Deborah Martinez with Coach Anthony Longstreet stated That cougars’ basketball gives the players a lot of exposure and a lot of life lessons.

With that being said, Anthony Longstreet also so stated “Dion Dixon has a chance to be an all starter, but he has to be more consistent”. With the Cougars being a team loaded with guards, a lot of their points will be generated from the perimeter.

This is where Dion Dixon comes into play! At the Chicago Public School Shootout, Dion Dixon, Crane’s 6’3 shooting guard, showed his all around game and athleticism in the first half as he amazingly popped off a “trey ball” from behind the arc. Playing sometimes the 1,2,3,5 Dixon kept the Cougars in the game with 2:30 left on the clock and the score tied up at 41-41.

With 10 seconds left on the clock, endless shouting of the fans, the cool, laid back reaction on the coach’s face lets everyone know Dixon has the green light. It's show time, Dixon attempts to drive through two defenders and loses it; Dixon recovers it, rises and lets it ride dropping the game winning “trey” at the buzzer. Final score 44-42.
