WHO HAS THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL?
Written by Corey Wilson / CS Staff Sports Columnist    Tuesday, 14 October 2008 14:17    PDF Print E-mail

Now that the 2008 football season is approaching crunch time. That nagging itch which caused us discomfort since last December can finally be scratched. We have waited and anxiously stood on the edge of our seats since Summer double session practices to see which teams will thrust themselves toward football immortality in their quest for that elusive state championship?

As expected, those same powerhouse programs are leading the way. Kicking butt and taking names later is second nature to these gridiron warriors who seem to retool every year. It seems year in and out we witness the same usual suspects competing for a state championship. High school football seems to have no parity from state to state. It seems your either a powerhouse program who pulverizes conference opponents and inferior non-conference competition. Or your a conference bottom feeder who continues to lift their chin up and receive the jaw breaking blow from the same football bullies from the division.

However, what if each state gathered it’s top 5 powerhouse programs and developed a nationwide playoff system. This would allow all the top high school teams to compete for a national championship. Which state would have the best football team? I’m sure schools in California, Florida, Ohio, and Illinois would be well represented.

Both Illinois and Ohio are football farms which breed some of the best high school football players in the nation. They both contain the same football programs which consistently stomp mud holes in opponents each year. The only thing that changes is the weather, and the players. However, the results are still the same…..championship after championship.

To all the high school football fanatics, just ask yourselves. Which state would prevail and capture a national championship?
