NFL Draft: Three New Jerseys, Three New Stars
Written by Bill Bizeau / CS Staff Writer    Monday, 04 May 2009 12:53    PDF Print E-mail
15 hours, 4 phone calls to the local pizza joint, and plenty of “are you serious we drafted this guy?” has left you drafted out. 256 college men will be attempting to make a name for themselves all across the NFL. We always are looking for the next superstar, from the fantasy aspect of it to just being able to rag on your friends with the, “I told you he was gonna be a stud”. So after you read this article feel free to just print it out and hide it in your back pocket so you can tell your friends that you saw this coming. Here are three rookies who will make an immediate impact with their teams.

Percy HarvinPercy Harvin is a guy who has the razzle-dazzle that makes yearn for the next highlight. Percy Harvin will fit in on the Minnesota Vikings with his play making abilities. Aside from Bernard Berrian and Adrian Peterson, the Vikings don't have many other play makers so; Percy Harvin should find his way into the offense pretty fast. I look at Harvin as the kind of guy who can just be plugged in but hesitate to say “Reggie Bush-ish”, but Harvin has the ability to make a big plays when needed. With Bobby Wade and Sidney Rice as the Viking's other core wide outs, Harvin will fight for a starting job and contribute on special teams. Percy Harvin should be the opening day kick and punt return man for the Vikings. I scouted Percy Harvin while he was at Florida and he has that special talent which is needed to elevate to the next level and be a solid performer in the NFL.
Chris “Beanie” Wells was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals and I love this pick. I was never sold on Tim Hightower as a feature back and besides his ability to score two touchdowns a game for your fantasy team; he isn't going be an every down back. Wells is a big running back who has the speed, size, and the ability to stay on his feet. He has been questioned a lot about his durability and if he can play a full season. If Wells can show he is ready to carry the load, Arizona will have even greater balance. We know the passing attack they have is as dangerous as they come. Last year the Cardinals were dead last in rushing yards and Chris Wells could be the solution to that. Beanie hardly misses a hole when it opens and has a great first burst of speed to get through the line, something the Cardinals will love to see.

Juaquin IglesiasFinally, Jauquin Iglesias will contribute to the Bears on offense the first Sunday night against Green Bay. With guys like Earl Bennett and Rashied Davis looking to be the go-to-guy who's to say Jauquin can't be immediately plugged into the number three spot. Don't be caught off guard if he becomes the number two man either! In the NFL you don't need to be lightning fast. As much as it helps, there are other ways to work your way onto the field. Iglesias won’t be the quickest guy out there, but with his great route running ability and sure hands he will find ways to get open. Durability also comes to mind when I think of this guy, Iglesias played in 54 games at Oklahoma and isn't afraid to play through a little bit of pain. Let's not forget to mention Jay Cutler will now be calling the shots and he will only make these guys better. In all honesty, I can't wait to see how these young receivers react to him. I have huge expectations with the Bears’ offense this year.

As the title says, three new stars are putting on three new jerseys for their teams. Now go to your printer and collect this paper...come September you can say I told you so!
