What better way to celebrate the Chicago Slaughter's Coach Steve McMichael being inducted into the National Football Foundation's College Hall of Fame than with a win agains the Wisconsin Wolfpack on Saturday night? That's exactly what the Chicago Slaughter did. The Chicago Slaughter now move to a perfect 10-0 record as the Slaughter beat the Wisconsin Wolfpack 67-22.
After breaking the league's single game record for most passing touchdowns what would Chicago Slaughter Quarterback Russ Michna do for an encore? For starters would break four more records. Michna now holds the single season records for most TD's, completions and passing yards. He even broke his own record for most passing yards (303) in a game. He was 22-for-27 with 342 total yards and threw for 8 TD's. Despite Michna's record breaking night, here's what he had to say about it, "While Michna was setting new records left and right Saturday night he admitted he could've been better. "Four out of five throws that he [Sippio] caught were terrible throws," said Michna. After the Chicago Slaughter lost wide out Donovan Morgan to injury, the Chicago Rush called on former Chicago Rush and Kansas City Chief stand-out Bobby Sippio. Sippio joined the team and went to work in his first game back on the field, catching 6 TD's and accumulating 144-yards receiving. "It feels great. It feels like a homecoming," said Sippio. "I had a good time out there and I'm looking forward to better times." Russ Michna then had this to say about his new teammate, Bobby Sippio, "I can't say enough. I don't even know what to say about the guy. I didn't think there was any chance other teams could stop us even before he got here. The only way we're going to have problems is if I keep under throwing to him," he said. With their victory last week over the Rock River Raptors they locked up the number one seed in the 2009 CIFL Playoffs and tonight's win earned them home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The first round of the playoffs will begin Saturday June 20th at the Sears Centre. The Slaughters opponent is still TBA.
