Chicago, IL - After the 3rd overtime at the United Center, the Chicago Bulls defeated the Boston Celtics 128-127. 23, 430 fans entered the United Center on Thursday night and exited the stadium with a little less hair on their heads as the Bulls and Celtics went toe-to-toe like two heavy weight champions fighting for their lives. The Chicago Bulls led going into the 4th Quarter, but managed to allow the Celtics back in the game. The Bulls and Celtics exchanged the lead 21 times and tied up the score 17 times. The Bulls seemed to have the Celtics under their thumb many times, but the defending champs showed why they are the defending champs. Ray Allen led all scorers with 51 pts and Rajon Rondon had 19 assists with no turnovers. The two teams now head back to Boston for game 7. After the game, Vinny Del Negro had this to say, "I just told the guys at one of the time-outs...how great a job is this, just to play basketball. We dream of this as kids and it's time to take advantage. I'm pleased with the way we fought. Ben didn't have that speed today, but whenever he's on the court, he's a threat. BG only played 31 minutes and we'll need him for game 7 in Boston." The Chicago Bulls finally got points in the paint scoring 56 pts and hit their free-throws going 21-28. John Salmons lead all Bull scorers with 35 pts and was 5-9 from 3 pt land. The Bulls are surely showing their true colors and this is exactly what they need to grow as a team. Whatever the outcome of game 7, the Baby Bulls are blossoming before our eyes. Perhaps this is the return of basketball the way Chicago knows it.
