| Trade Rumor Analysis: Caron Butler to Chicago Bulls | ||||

It's tough not to pay too much attention to trade rumors, but there's no denying that they are intriguing. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Wizards were looking to trade Caron Butler to the Bulls for Kirk Hinrich. There would have to be some contracts included in the deal to make the salary cap work as well. This rumor could have two underlying themes.
From a basketball standpoint, this trade would make a lot of sense, unlike the recent Tracy McGrady trade rumor to the Philadelphia 76ers. What would the Chicago Bulls get in Caron Butler? The Bulls are not lacking in the "toughness" department. Guys like Derrick Rose , Joakim Noah , and Tyrus Thomas can hold their own against anyone. Adding Caron Butler would make them arguably the toughest team in the NBA. Butler's presence would take attention away from Luol Deng, potentially helping Deng break out (although he has had a semi-breakout season already). The move would also push John Salmons to the bench, providing the Bulls with more depth than they already have. I like the prospect of Jannero Pargo getting more playing time as well. Pargo could return to his New Orleans Hornets form with more playing time. This move could help the Bulls potentially become the fifth seed in the East. What would the Washington Wizards get in Kirk Hinrich? Similar to Gilbert Arenas, Kirk Hinrich is capable of playing both guard positions. Unlike Gilbert Arenas, Hinrich is quiet, has a great attitude, and plays shut-down defense. Hinrich does not demand many minutes like Arenas does either. This could open up opportunities for Randy Foye and Nick Young to develop into solid players. He continues to have shooting woes, which may be a concern for Washington. However, with Gilbert Arenas' gun incident hovering over the Wizard's heads, they may need to pull the trigger on this deal, no matter the implications. With an opportunity to make a playoff push and to forget about a distraction, both teams would be smart to pull off this deal. Read more Chicago Bulls news on BleacherReport.com read full article
