LAKE FOREST, IL – The Bears on Wednesday bolstered their secondary by agreeing to a one-year contract with unrestricted free agent free safety Josh Bullocks.
The 6-1, 207-pounder from Nebraska spent his first four NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints, registering 306 tackles and six interceptions. Bullocks was selected by the Saints in the second round of the 2005 draft (40th overall), one spot after the Bears chose wide receiver Mark Bradley. Bullocks started his first three seasons with the Saints. He was supplanted by Kevin Kaesviharn last year in training camp, but ultimately started six games, registering 45 tackles. Bullocks’ lone interception in 2008 came in a 27-24 overtime loss to the Bears Dec. 11 at Soldier Field. Bullocks is expected to compete for the starting free safety job with the Bears.
